Self Care with Dr. Jessica Emery

Self Care with Dr. Jessica Emery

Introduce yourself and tell us what you do!
I’m Dr. Jessica Emery, and I am a former dentist turned thought leader, speaker, brand builder, content creator, and coach. I am all about designing a life you love and for me, that means having complete confidence in my intuition and what I’m feeling pulled in my soul to do.

In 2020, I started getting undeniable signs that it was time for me to step away from dentistry and step into the world of coaching and community building. Because of the trust I have in myself, I was able to move forward without fear.

I built the Happy CEO because I am all about running with the dreamers: the ones who know deep down in their souls that they are ready to rise. Women who have a calling for something bigger and just need a little confidence or direction to get started.
I love coaching self-led women who have a deep connection to their inner GPS. I am obsessed with opening people’s minds and hearts to the opportunities that are out there. I believe that it’s time for you to stop living someone else’s version of a good life and put YOUR dreams front and center. Trust me, you will amaze yourself. Always go bigger!

What are your non-negotiable morning rituals Before Life Happens?
My non-negotiable morning routine is a workout. I love being part of the #5amclub and getting this in early so I’m not chasing my day. And of course, brushing my teeth with BEFORE toothpaste ;)

What inspired you to become a dentist, and what do you find most rewarding about your work?
My mother inspired me. She became a dentist when my sisters and I were teenagers. I was able to work in her practice in H.S. and college. We were the first mother-daughter team to graduate from Tufts Dental School. My mom was beyond proud. I did it all in dentistry, assisting and the front desk and actually went to dental hygiene school and practiced dental hygiene prior to becoming a dentist. Cosmetic dentistry is my favorite. Restoring someone’s confidence and self-esteem is everything!

What do you consider to be the key elements of good oral health?
Brushing and flossing daily.

Can you discuss any oral health issues that are becoming more prevalent or concerning in recent years?
I have found with people becoming more digitally dialled in and busy, it’s hard to believe BUT people are brushing super quickly or some not at all, skipping the evening for example. :/

What inspired you to start Dental Soiree and/or Dental Girl Gang, and what do you hope to achieve with the platform(s)?
I absolutely love dental branding and marketing. It was how I was able to grow my fee-for-service practice. It builds the know, like trust factor. Many dentists had reached out asking me how I was doing what I did and I started helping coach them and then Dental Soiree was born. Now we have a content club membership and many courses to help dental practices step in and connect with the public. I also do dental brand photoshoots and help dental practices build unique websites. It’s all about authenticity. So it’s all about helping dentists create a business and life they love! Dental Girl Gang is all about community and supporting women in business and life!

What are some of the most common mistakes people make about caring for their teeth?
Not caring for them….;) not brushing properly or at all. Always shocked by how many skip brushing.

In addition to running a successful dental business, you are also the host of the Happy CEO podcast. What episode would you recommend to our community and why?
I host two podcasts Dental Confidential and Happy CEO. I love all the Happy CEO episodes! Today I recorded one on the importance of branding and photos in business but I have also done several on mindset and other important topics. Tune in!

What other self-care practices do you have that support you in feeling your best?
I have a CEO day every Friday. This is a day for me ….call it a self-care day. I can use it any way I like. I love massage and get deep tissue for 90 minutes every two weeks. I work hard and play hard and also am big on self-care. Time for me to think and dream.

How do you end your day?
This depends on the day. Some nights I host my Happy CEO Masterminds. On the other, I unwind with a cup of chamomile tea and read or occasionally watch a TV show with my husband. Of course, a great routine that includes brushing!
